On the 8th of July in Birmingham, we had a delightful WFWP Young Women's Speech Contest when a hundred women of all ages, races, cultures and faiths came together.

6 young participants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Morocco and Ghana treated us in sharing their thoughts about this year's theme : 'Work-Life Balance' for Women in the Modern Era.'

While our 4 qualified judges deliberated, we enjoyed a lovely cultural programme of music and poetry from around the world.

It was very hard for the judges to decide.in the end they gave the 1st prize to Azita from Iran, but it felt like everyone was a winner, showing such courage and character to speak in front of so many people, including their family and relatives who had come to support them.

We were so proud of each one of them.

It gives us such hope for the future, evidenced by the buzz of energy filling the whole house until late into the evening.

Literally everyone left with a smile on their face!
