On the 13th of December, we had a wonderful Women's Peace Meeting about
"Women Making a Difference". We were around 80 ladies from all faiths and 27
nationalities. A mini United Nations!
We heard very moving testimonies from Aisha Latif, an Immigration Lawyer, fighting
for the rights of women, Maureen Foxall, a Methodist local preacher, sharing about
the priceless work of a chaplain especially during COVID, Sameera Hussain, from
Migrant Help, helping refugees in desperate situations and Rev Eve Pitts reflecting
honestly about challenges to her faith in this troubled world...
Then the floor was open for everyone to share.
We could feel each other's heart beating.
We lit candles and prayed together tearfully, which was so meaningful in this very
distressing time...
Then we enjoyed food together, and spent time socialising and sharing with one
another.
We also collected quite a large amount of clothes, toiletries, and dry food items for
the young homeless in Birmingham, and my friend Sabira raised money for them by
selling beautiful candles.
We will remember our experience from this evening for a long time.
