Our International Women's Day evening in Birmingham was attended by about 90 women from a wide variety of backgrounds, with the theme of 'Women Making A Difference' in our world. More than 20 ladies were joining us for the first time. We were very happy to have Mrs Mitty Tohma with us, the current President of WFWP for Europe and the Middle East.
We had 4 main speakers : Amelia, Gabrielle, Nasim and Niti, who spoke about their work with the homeless, fostercare, women's empowerment and healthcare, respectively. Their presentations stimulated a time of heartfelt sharing from a number of us, some of which were deeply moving.
During the evening, we made a collection for relief work in northern Syria, raising £600 which was so wonderful.
After a quiet, candle-lit time of reflection, prayer and musical offerings, we enjoyed food and refreshments together, with old friendships renewed, and new friendships made, and with conversations continuing late into the night. A truly worthwhile and meaningful occasion, which we will remember for a long time.
