Bridge of Peace Ceremony
On Saturday, 5th September 2026, the Women's Federation for World Peace Scotland held a 'Bridge of Peace Ceremony' at the Southside Community Centre in Edinburgh.
After an introduction and explanation of the history of this unique event by the chairperson of WFWP Scotland, Harumi Currie, each person was randomly paired with another participant, forming new "sisterhood" or "brotherhood" connections. These pairings symbolised the start of a new friendship and unity beyond the event itself, and the participants were encouraged to discover each other's world by visiting each other’s family, supporting projects they are involved in, or sharing in other meaningful, practical ways. All in all, everyone was given a great opportunity to contribute to building a global family of peace.
The meeting finished with a group photo to remember the occasion and cutting a celebratory cake. The simple act of sharing refreshments reinforced the spirit of unity and togetherness that had grown throughout the afternoon.
