WFWP Ireland sponsored an event under the theme “Beauty Inside Out”.
This particular seminar was based on the theme of empowering women and helping them see themselves from God’s viewpoint. We all know that we are beautiful, precious daughters of God, but often it is hard to feel that. As women, many times we may feel insecure and lack belief in ourselves.
Based on the Principle of internal nature and external form we know that these two aspects have an effect on each other. For women, feeling internally beautiful and confident can be very much connected to their external appearance and one can have a very positive effect on the other.
So, based on this concept, we held a “Style & Colour Workshop for Women of all Ages” for which we invited a professional Image Consultant, Maria Lynch.
It took place in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, 11 February 2012. It was an all-day event and there were 8 women attending, a mixture of 1st and 2nd gen and guests.
Maria works extensively within the corporate world, advising professional women and also advising women on a personal level on image, appearance and confidence.
The purpose of this workshop was to learn more about how to make the most of our external appearance and to boost our confidence, but also to come together on a level of sisterhood, beyond boundaries or age.
On a practical level, we learned a lot about how to make the most of our body shape and scale, what parts to camouflage and what to enhance, what colours suit our complexion and how to build up a smart wardrobe in a cost-effective way. In short, it was encouraging us to look and feel good about ourselves and to buy what really suits us.
Maria did a brilliant job of winning everybody’s heart with her fresh and embracing spirit and approachable manner. The workshop was very interactive, with exercises and a lot of fun in which everybody learned a lot.
Beyond the external content conveyed, I must say I am amazed about the internal lessons and experiences we could sense during this seminar.
We are not perfect, we are who we are - but with a few twists and tweaks we can see and feel such differences and enhance our God-given beauty.
I suppose the lesson here is that perfection is not a precondition for us as sisters to feel lovable and confident. In this sense it really helped us to see ourselves from God’s viewpoint as beautiful daughters of God.
Also, there was a wonderful sense of sisterhood in the room that was going beyond boundaries or age. It was a great bonding experience.
Afterwards, I gave Maria True Father’s autobiography which she was very grateful for and based on our beautiful experiences together I am looking forward to deepen our relationship and friendship.
It was a fantastic day with a different approach to creating harmony!
